Youthful Innocence vs. Modern "Terrorism"

A little back info on this, the original concept for this was based off an Alex Grey piece entitled "Theologue". I did a quick 4x4 close-up sketch of the center of "Theologue" about 6 yrs ago and the sketch later developed into this.

This piece is actually a scan of the original 8x8. Im now going back and turning these into a series that i may take in a political vs. the common man direction, in light of the current circumstances in the old US of A.

I built the image using a collage of various photos and then sketched them in black and white to heighten the mood of the image. The images above the babies head are there to represent the mass power that man has managed to harnessed and the underlying line that individual "people" can now ruin this planet for us all. The gun to the babies head and the askew rendering of the right side of the face are to represent the exact instant the bullet is passing through and removing the innocence and the spirit from the child. The child is not only there to represent the youth but the fact that for every life that is taken no matter how old, its still a child to a mother and father somewhere.

****I have had some people tell me that they see more evil in this image than good. Of course the youthful innocence of the child is overall the "good" in the image, but the real battle between good and evil is in the emotion that u take with you. To stand up for someone without a voice. To help someone with no gain for you but to see them happy. In a time of economic hardship in this country we all need to be offering a helping hand and not running away like the stick figure or just watching out our windows as the world passes us by.
